The circumstance surrounding the exit of Robert Nii Arday Clegg from Starr FM has been explained by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the EIB Network, Nathan Kwabena Anokye-Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray.
A trained lawyer, Nii Arday Clegg who took over from Kafui Dey in September 2015 as host of Starr 103.5FM’s flagship show, Morning Starr resigned on Monday, February 13, 2017, to some controversy.
According to media reports, Mr Clegg was sacked after a clash of egos with his boss over a decision the latter made concerning the Newsroom of the station.
Having worked at Radio Gold (2000-2006), GTV (2006-2010) Multimedia Group as a presenter of PM Express on Multi TV (2010-2012), Nii Arday did not agree with a decision to put someone without half of his experience over him as his direct boss.
But speaking on the station's personality profile show, Starr Chat on Wednesday, Bola Ray though he may have forced Nii Arday to hasten his exit from the station, he did not necessarily sack him as being speculated.
"Nii Arday wrote to inform me of his intention to leave in a month's time but I asked him to resign within the next 24 hours because I thought he showed bad faith by not telling me beforehand so I had to take a tough decision", he stated.
He revealed that "despite the tough decision, there is no bad blood between us. We are still friends and he even called me this morning to wish me a happy birthday".
According to him, he believed Nii Arday left largely because he wanted to move on to new things and concentrate his law professionÂ
"Nii Arday is a great lawyer and he moved on because he wanted to continue with his law firm", he stated.
The interview hosted by Peace FM's Kwame Sefa Kayi was part of activities marking Bola Ray's 40th birthday.
Earlier in the day, he and his wife, Dorcas renewed their marital views at a short ceremony in Accra.
