The Kumasi edition of the candlelight vigil in honour of the late music legend, Daddy Lumba, scheduled for Saturday, August 9, has been postponed indefinitely.

The Creative Arts Agency, the organisers, announced in a press statement dated Thursday, August 7, 2025, signed by the acting Executive Secretary of the Agency, Gideon Aryeequaye.

The planned vigil has been postponed indefinitely as a mark of respect for the eight individuals who lost their lives in a recent helicopter crash.

The decision comes after President John Dramani Mahama declared three days of national mourning, from August 7 to 9, 2025, in honour of the victims.

The planned Kumasi vigil followed a successful edition held at the Independence Square in Accra on Saturday, August 2, 2025.

The event in the capital drew hundreds of fans, fellow musicians and dignitaries who gathered to pay tribute to one of Ghana’s most influential musicians.

Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, died on Saturday, July, 26, 2025 after a short illness, aged 60.

The Creative Arts Agency has offered its condolences to the families of the victims and to the nation, expressing sympathy and solidarity during this difficult time
