Lost recordings of legendary reggae musician, Robert Nesta Marley found in a damp basement in London after more than 40 years have been restored.

The 13 secret tapes are live recordings of the reggae legend’s gigs in London and Paris between 1974-78 and feature famous tracks including No Woman No Cry, Jamming and Exodus.

The tapes, which also include new material, were nearly binned at a hotel in Kensal Rise, north London, where the late Marley, who would have been 72 today, stayed.

Luckily, the rubbish collector told a Marley fan of the find and he passed the two inch tapes to sound technician Martin Nichols.

Restoring them took £25,000 and 12 months.

Martin, of Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, said: “It made the hair on the back of our necks stand up and gave up shivers of joy.”
