In a bid to fend for herself and fund her education, a 15-year-old Junior High School (JHS) graduate has turned to prostitution.

According to the girl (name withheld), she had been staying home for about a year and half ago and started working as a prostitute a month ago only because she wanted money to pay her school fees which her parents could not afford.

"My mother doesn't work. She is at home but my father travel to so many places and I couldn't find my father...that is why I am working as a prostitute," she told Joy News' Gabriel Nunoo in an interview.

The girl who lives at the Kokomba slum near the Makola market disclosed that she makes daily sales of between GhȻ120- GhȻ130 working at a brothel and saves an amount of GhȻ50 daily to fund her education.

She, however, noted that she would quit the prostitution when she makes enough money to fund her secondary education so as to fulfil her hopes of becoming a bank manageress in future.
