The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced that the recruitment portal for the 2026 Military Enlistment Exercise will be opened on Friday, September 4, 2026.
The exercise will allow eligible Ghanaians to apply to join the Armed Forces, subject to the requirements and selection process.
The GAF has also published the entry requirements for the 2026/2027 intake into the Ghana Military Academy.
According to the entry requirements, applicants must be Ghanaian citizens of good character, medically fit by GAF standards, and able to pass the Pre-Joining Fitness Test. Regular Cadet applicants must also be unmarried, not bonded, and between 18 and 26 years old by Thursday, February 18, 2027.
Male applicants are required to have a minimum height of 1.68 metres (5ft 6in), while female applicants must be at least 1.60 metres (5ft 2in). However, applicants seeking admission into the Military Police must meet higher minimum height requirements of 1.75 metres (5ft 9in) for males and 1.70 metres (5ft 7in) for females.
Applicants are also required to possess the requisite academic qualifications, including six credits at WASSCE level, comprising Core English, Core Mathematics, and Core Science. Equivalent qualifications under the BECE, SSSCE, and GCE O and A-Level systems are also recognized under the stated conditions.

The GAF said transcripts and attestations would not be accepted at the documentation stage, while proficiency in French, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, German, or Swahili would be considered an added advantage.
Under the Regular Career Officer Course, the Ghana Army is seeking graduates in a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, information technology, telecommunications, logistics, supply chain management, agriculture, physical education, education, public relations, accounting, finance, hospitality, and music.
The Army is also recruiting graduates for specialized areas such as infantry, armour, artillery, signal and communications, information technology, engineering, ordnance, explosive ordnance, agricultural extension, records, education and public relations.
Most applicants for the Regular Career Officer Course are required to possess a First Degree of at least Second Class Lower from an accredited university or institution, although specific branches have additional academic and professional requirements.
The Ghana Navy is also seeking qualified graduates for its Executive, Technical, Supply, Administration, Information Technology, Education, Records, Agricultural Extension, Band, Public Relations, Pay, and Catering branches.
For the Ghana Air Force, opportunities have been opened in Operations, Engineering, Supply, Administration, Information Technology, Ordnance, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Education, Records, Agricultural Extension, Band, Public Relations, Pay and Catering.
The Air Force Operations branch offers opportunities for prospective pilots and air traffic control officers, and applicants must possess relevant science qualifications.
The Short Service Commission has also been opened to applicants with advanced academic and professional qualifications in specialized fields.
Applicants for several Short Service Commission categories must generally be no older than 30 years old by February 18, 2027, although different age limits apply to legal, medical, and other specialized professionals.
Among the specialized opportunities are positions for engineers, information technology officers, supply and transport officers, ordnance officers, explosive ordnance specialists, public relations officers, education officers, legal officers, agricultural extension officers, physical training instructors, and catering officers.
The recruitment also covers medical and health professionals, including medical and dental specialists, medical officers, dental surgeons, veterinary surgeons, pharmacists, specialized nurses, nursing tutors, nursing officers, and veterinary nursing officers.
Legal applicants under the Short Service Commission must not be older than 35 years old by February 18, 2027, and must hold a Bachelor of Laws degree from an accredited institution, be enrolled as a lawyer in Ghana, have completed pupillage, and have at least two years of work experience.
Medical and dental specialists may be up to 40 years old, while medical officers, dental surgeons, and veterinary surgeons must generally be no older than 35 years old.
The GAF said applicants for specialized positions must meet the specific academic, professional registration, and work experience requirements applicable to their chosen fields.
The wide range of disciplines covered under the 2026/2027 enlistment is expected to provide opportunities for graduates and professionals with backgrounds in science, technology, engineering, medicine, law, communication, administration, logistics, agriculture, and other specialized fields to pursue careers in GAF.
