A chieftaincy dispute has claimed the lives of at least nine people at Kiblima in the Bole/Bamboi district of the Northern Region.

Although the perished are yet to be identified and their families notified, they are suspected to be mercenaries from Lamashegu and Nakpanzoo communities in the Tamale Metropolitan Area.

A purported enskinment of Kilblima-Wura, Suale Mahama by the overlord of the Gonjaland Traditional Area is said to have triggered the bloody conflict beginning on Wednesday. A section of the inhabitants maintain Suale Mahama is not one to rule them preferring another candidate who they are willing to obey and serve.

The unease has forced some to seek shelter and safety in adjoining towns while the police work to take charge of the situation.
