Aburi mudslide: Road reopens as NADMO clears debris

There was a mudslide on the Aburi road yesterday which caused parts of the road to be unaccessible to motorist.

Authorities have now reopened the road after clearing the debris.

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in a statement said that they worked around the clock to ensure the road opened by Saturday morning.

They also added that technocrats have been to the scene of the incident to ascertain the cause of the mudslide, after which they can determine the best way to prevent a recurrence.

In 2016, a steel mesh was placed over the slope to prevent mudslides but the preventative measure failed this time around.
