The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor, has announced that three generation units affected by the recent fire at the Ghana Grid Company substation at Akosombo have been restored, bringing partial relief to the country’s electricity supply.
In a post on Tuesday, the Minister stated that the development will enhance power generation capacity and strengthen supply reliability within the national grid.
Dr. Jinapor noted that the milestone forms part of ongoing efforts to stabilise the power sector following a recent fire incident that affected operations at the facility.
“It also reflects our continued commitment to maintaining a resilient power system,” he said.
He further disclosed that engineers are currently working to bring a fourth unit back online as part of broader restoration measures.
The Minister emphasised that the progress underscores government’s determination to emerge from the setback stronger, with renewed focus on ensuring stability and reliability in power supply.
The restoration of additional generating units at Akosombo is expected to ease pressure on the energy sector and support consistent electricity delivery to homes and businesses nationwide.
