Akufo-Addo urges media to be circumspect in their reportage on the Military

President Akufo-Addo has urged the media to be circumspect in their reportage on the Military and desist from attributing political motives to matters that are purely professional.

Akufo-Addo stated this at a Durbar of Officers and Men of the Ghana Armed Forces at the Burma Hall of the Burma Camp yesterday February 22 2019.

According to Akufo-Addo:''I call on the media to be circumspect in their reportage on the military and desist from attributing political motives to matters that are purely professional''.

Also, he called on the Ghana Armed Forces to insulate itself from party partisan politics adding that it's in the interest of the Nation that the Armed forces retain the neutrality and professionalism guaranteed under the constitution.

President Akufo-Addo advised soldiers to focus on their mandate and desist from engaging in partisan politics.

''The armed forces should not tie its well being or otherwise to the fortunes of the ruling party of the day. Officers, men and women must ensure that the Ghana armed forces is left to focus on its core mandate''.

At the ceremony, the President thanked the Army for protecting the territorial integrity of the Nation and safeguarding the peace of Ghanaians. As Commander in Chief, President Akufo Addo commended them for their professionalism in Ghana and outside the country. He said the government will continue to equip the  Military to continue to carry out its constitutionally mandated duties.
