The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) is planning to seek spiritual consultation to determine the cause of the frequent fire outbreaks in the capital.

According to the assembly's Chief Executive, Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, although the necessary authorities have and are still carrying out investigations into the cause of some fires in the capital, “we will let the spiritualists, those in that area of operation, dialogue with this.”

Dr Vanderpuije’s comment comes in after Thursday night’s fire which ravaged the Vienna City Night Club at Circle.

The club is located directly opposite the Goil Filling Station near the GCB Towers which was razed down by fire on June 3, 2015 and claimed about 150 lives.

Speaking to Citi FM, Friday morning after touring the accident scene, Dr Vanderpuije noted that, “I think the most important thing at this stage is to look at the cause of the fire from the scientific point, the structural point, all the necessary points, aside from the spiritual point; so they will do their job and they will give us the report. Once we get the report, we will go from there…we will let the spiritualists, those in that area of operation to continue to dialogue with us to see what they need to do.”

In the meantime, Dr Vanderpuije said his outfit would await the investigative report from the police and authorities from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), as well as other security agencies
