Lecturers at the Accra Technical University (ATU) formerly known as Accra Polythenic have temporarily suspended academic activities over inadequate facilities in the school.

According to the lecturers', basic facilities to aid teaching and learning in the school are absent making it difficult for them to have a smooth academic work.

The local chairman of Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG) of ATU Jones Nsiamoah said after their deliberations with management they have decided to lay down their academic tools for two days for the various pressing issues in the school to be addressed.

According to him, eight issues have been outlined before management. They include poor state of laboratories, non-functioning electrical gadgets, lack of projectors and sanitation-related issues.

He added that all staff and students are behind the action of the lecturers to back down on academic work.

Jones Nsiamoah said they are holding on to the assurance of the Vice Chancellor of the school that by Monday the issues will be addressed, but they will want to see action before going back to the classroom.
