Bawumia commissions Fire Training School at Duayaw Nkwanta

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has commissioned the First Phase of the Fire Academy and Training School at Duayaw Nkwanta in the Ahafo Region.

The training school, which occupies a land size of 30.28 acres comprises vital facilities such as classrooms, dormitories and a training square.

The commissioning of the facility heralds the dawn of a new era in firefighting education and preparedness.

Dr Bawumia expressed Government’s continuous commitment to resourcing the Ghana National Fire Service to achieve its mandate.

He noted that the commissioning of the training school is a milestone that reflects Government’s promise to increase the number of Fire Training Schools in the country from one to four and also resource and retool the Fire Service to improve its work and perform effectively and efficiently.

He thanked the Chiefs of Ahafo for giving out the land for such a laudable project. He also commended the Ghana National Fire Service for their good work and urged them to intensify their fire safety education to reduce fire outbreaks in the country.
