A Chinese national serving a year's jail term at Ghana's Nsawam Prison, has escaped.
The convict fled while he underwent medical care at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
He allegedly feigned sickness to the extent that he needed to be taken to the hospital outside the prison walls but he escaped from the hands of the prison officers who escorted him.
The incident happened on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. The Ghana Prisons Service has confirmed the incident and has since issued a wanted person notice for public assistance to re-arrest the inmate.
The prison officers under whose care the convict was, have been interdicted pending investigations.
