Months after the Accra Metropolitan Assembly undertook a massive clean-up and pavement decongestion at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange, the pavements have returned to its former state if not worsened.

Several goods and items being sold by these vendors are seen displayed in such a manner that commuters have to struggle for the little amount of space left for both customers and pedestrians.

Regular commuters narrating their ordeal to Prime News Ghana observed that the traders usually begin sales and display their products between the hours of 5 pm and 6 am during weekdays when taskforce officials, as well as workers, have closed from their businesses.

" They usually begin sales when the task force members leave to avoid getting caught or fined. They make sales until the next morning around 6 am when the officials resume work", they claimed.

The trend described has however changed as the vendors are now available throughout the days and nights for the past week.

Primenewsghana visited some vendors who claimed they had pleaded with the Assembly officials to allow them to sell on the pavements during the festive season to meet the demands of the numerous commuters who double as their customers. They further added that they were granted the permission to do business in the area until the 3rd of January, 2018.

However, the reports that the vendors have been officially allowed to carry out their businesses on the pavements are yet to be confirmed as the team met the absence of the Co-ordinator and attempts to reach him proved futile.
