Cop killer on death row, Johnson Kombian caught in jail break attempt

Officers at the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons on Sunday foiled a jail break attempt by notorious criminal, Johnson Kombian, and two others, Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Prisons Service, DSP Courage Atsem has disclosed.

Acording to him the incident had led the Nsawam Medium Security Prison to be locked down as the police begin their investigations into the matter.

“There was an attempted escape [on Sunday], which was foiled by the officers on duty. Everybody is in intact. The Police have begun a full-scale investigation into the incident to get the full details of what occurred,” he stated on Joy FM on Tuesday.

Kombian was sentenced to death by hanging for last year for murdering two policemen, Constables Prince Agyare and Owusu Frimpong at Nakpanduri in the Northern Region.

The seven-member jury unanimously found Kombian, a convicted jail-breaker and notorious armed robber, guilty of conspiracy to commit crime and murder of the two police officers and also sentenced him to 30 years for conspiracy to commit murder and death by hanging for murder.
