The Deputy Minister for Defence Major Derrick Oduro has revealed that the three individuals who are being held for attempting a take over of the Jubilee House had intentions of attacking the Ministry of Defence.
According to him, intelligence gathered proved that the individuals had plans to attack the Ministry and that the Military is yet to determine the actual roles the soldiers in custody played in the whole plot.
This follows a statement released by the Information Ministry on Monday hinting of a planned attack at the Jubilee House by some individuals including a medical doctor and 2 others which was discovered and foiled by security agencies, CID and BNI operatives.
Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said that these individuals have been planning for 18 months to destabilise the country.
In an interview on Starr FM, Major Derrick Oduro said : “The intelligence we gathered indicated that these young men wanted to attack the Defense Ministry. As we speak, we cannot tell whether the military men alleged to be involved were informants. Let’s keep our fingers crossed as things unfold. We didn’t rush in putting the information out there. The information came in at the right timeâ€.
