The founder of Heaven Way Church, Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has been convicted by the Accra Circuit Court on charges of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretenses.

Presiding over the case, Her Honor Evelyn Asamoah ruled on Wednesday that Nana Agradaa was guilty of deceiving members of the public with claims of doubling money through spiritual means—a scheme that reportedly defrauded several victims.

Before pronouncing a sentence, however, the court ordered that a pregnancy test be conducted on the convicted televangelist.

This is in line with legal procedures to ensure that sentencing, particularly in cases that may involve custodial terms, takes into consideration the health and condition of the accused.

Nana Agradaa, a former fetish priestess turned evangelist, has been at the center of controversy in recent years following multiple allegations of fraud tied to her spiritual practices and financial dealings.

Her case has reignited public debate about the rise of dubious religious leaders and the urgent need for regulation of religious and spiritual institutions in Ghana.
