Scores of customers of ECG, who served through prepaid meters, stormed various ECG offices in some parts of the Greater Accra Region today 6 December 2017 to buy prepaid credit following their inability to get refills from third-party vendors.

As early as 4 am, hundreds of the customers have seen at some ECG offices unending and winding queues waiting for their turn to purchase prepaid credit.

According to an officer at the ECG office at Avenor in Accra, the problems customers are encountering is as a result of a new system being rolled out.She added that because the new system could not back up all data of customers, some prepaid cards cannot be recognized by their machines hence the problem.

Some frustrated customers expressed their displeasure at the current happening and called on the government to privatize the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG)

Meanwhile, Head of Communications at ECG, William Boateng, has assured that their technical experts are working to restore the anomaly as soon as possible.
