Mother of the Vice President, Hajia Mariama Bawumia, has passed away.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's mother, who was 82, died after a brief illness in Accra.
Hajia Mariama had been unwell and hospitalised for few weeks, a Facebook post by the Vice President confirmed the news.
During her 80th birthday in 2019, Dr Bawumia in a Facebook post described her as “the pillar of my life.â€
Hajia Mariama affectionately called Maame was born on September 15, 1939., and kicked the bucket at 81 years old. She passed on two days from her 82nd birthday.
The Vice President has made the following statement about the news:
ON THE PASSING OF HAJIA MARIAMA BAWUMIA
Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un (Indeed to Allah we have a place, and to Allah we will return.)
It is with extraordinary misery that I report the death of my cherished mother Hajia Mariama Bawumia.
Hajia Mariama died calmly toward the beginning of today in Accra. Entombment is booked for later, Tuesday, September 14, 2021, in Walewale.
May the Almighty Allah award her Jannatul Firdaus.
