The Electoral Commission (EC) has resumed the Voters ID card replacement exercise.

The commission in a press release said: “any person who wishes to replace a lost, defaced or a damaged Voter’s ID Card is required to pay a fee of Five Ghana Cedis (GHC 5.00) at any of the Ghana Commercial Bank branches across the country.”

“Applicants are required to submit a receipt of payment to the District Office of the Commission where the application is registered, for the issuance of a new ID card,” the statement added.

The replacement of Voter ID cards was halted in August 2018 to retool the voter management systems at the district level.

“This is to enable the Commission to mobilize and retool its district Voter Management Systems (VMS), as part of its preparatory activities towards its scheduled 2018 online limited voters registration exercise”, the EC stated.

The electoral body, however, indicated that a new date for the resumption of the replacement would be announced later.
