The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has declared Dr Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple a fugitive from justice, intensifying its ongoing investigations into alleged gold fraud linked to his company, SESI-EDEM Ltd.

In a news release issued on April 9, EOCO said it had taken note of recent public statements, including those attributed to the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, concerning its ongoing investigations into SESI-EDEM Ltd, an entity linked to Dr. Kwamigah-Atokple.

The Office said it was currently handling three separate petitions against the suspect and his company, all of which bordered on allegations of gold fraud and followed a similar pattern.

EOCO dismissed what it described as misleading public commentary on the matter and assured the public that it was conducting its investigations in accordance with the law and within its mandate.

It said developments in the case suggested attempts by promoters of the company to obstruct investigations while seeking refuge in political, traditional, and media influence.

According to EOCO, since November 2025, the suspect and his company had been given the opportunity to respond to the allegations but had failed to cooperate with investigators.

The Office stressed that no individual was above the law and indicated that the suspect would be brought to justice.

EOCO further disclosed that Dr. Kwamigah-Atokple was currently on the run and believed to be hiding within the Volta Region.

It said its Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) had been deployed to locate and apprehend the suspect.

The Office urged members of the public with information on the whereabouts of the suspect to contact the nearest EOCO office.
