Five persons arrested selling 2-month-old baby for 1000 Cedis

The Ashanti Regional Police Command have arrested five persons at Jachie in Kumasi for allegedly selling a 2month old baby for 1000 Ghana Cedis.

According to reports, the baby was declared missing on Thursday 14th of September. The teenage mother identified as Margaret 14, said she left the baby in her grandfather's room to perform her house chores after which she couldn't find it.

After interrogation, the teenage mother admitted that the baby was with one Abena Gyapong a family friend. Abena Gyapong said with the help of a taxi driver she stole the baby and sold it to a couple at Atosu. 

Abena Gyapong further revealed she sold the baby for 1000 Ghana Cedis and gave the mother 300 Ghana Cedis.

The police went for the baby and arrested the five individuals involved in the transaction and are currently investigating the incident.Â
