The High Court in Accra has granted bail to former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company Limited (NAFCO), Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, and his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni, who are facing trial over alleged corruption and financial offences involving more than GH¢50 million in public funds.
The court set bail at GH¢60 million for Mr Aludiba with two justified sureties, while his wife was admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢3.5 million, also with two justified sureties.
The ruling came after the couple pleaded not guilty to a revised 20-count charge sheet filed by the Office of the Attorney General.
As part of the bail conditions, the court placed both accused persons on a stop list at all entry and exit points in the country, effectively restricting them from travelling outside Ghana pending the determination of the case.
They were also ordered to surrender their passports to the Registry of the High Court.
In addition, the court directed the accused persons to report to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) every two weeks.
The court further ruled that they must continue to comply with existing EOCO bail conditions in addition to the new requirements imposed by the High Court.
It noted that there were concerns the accused persons may not immediately meet all the bail conditions, particularly the provision of justified sureties and related administrative requirements.
The court therefore gave them up to May 21, 2026, to fully satisfy the bail terms.
On the prosecution side, the court ordered the Attorney General to file all outstanding witness statements and disclosures within seven days.
The accused persons were also directed to submit the list of witnesses they intend to rely on in their defence.
The case has been adjourned to May 28, 2026, for a Case Management Conference, where the court is expected to set timelines and procedures for the commencement of the full trial.
The matter forms part of ongoing proceedings linked to alleged financial irregularities at NAFCO, a state institution responsible for managing strategic food reserves and supporting national food security interventions.
