The Ghana Army has conducted a cordon and search operation within the Bawku General Area on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, as part of the itinerary for Exercise Storm Shield 2026, aimed at reinforcing the resolve to maintain peace and stability in the area.
The operation was conducted to neutralise threats, retrieve contraband and apprehend suspects in the area.
Speaking after the operation, the Command Operations Officer at Headquarters Northern Command, Colonel (Col) John Yaw Kwarteng, expressed appreciation to the community for their cooperation.
He appealed to the public to volunteer credible information to the military and other security services about potential troublemakers and assured the community that the military would continue to sustain such operations to safeguard lives and property.
Some suspects, together with items recovered during the operation, were later handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation and possible prosecution.
