Ghana, Malawi sign visa waiver agreement

In a bid to fortify bilateral ties and enhance existing cooperation, Ghana and Malawi have formalized an Agreement on a visa waiver regime.

The announcement was contained in a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration on Thursday March 21, 2024.

The statement said effective February 7, 2024, holders of ordinary, diplomatic, and service passports from both Ghana and Malawi can benefit from this agreement.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration wishes to inform the public that the Republic of Ghana and the Republic of Malawi desirous of strengthening their bilateral relations and existing cooperation have entered into an Agreement on a visa waiver regime for holders of ordinary, diplomatic and service passports which took effect from 7th February, 2024.”

Travellers now have the liberty to transit through, depart from, and reside in the territories of both countries for a cumulative period of up to ninety (90) days within a calendar year.

“Accordingly, travellers may transit through, depart from and stay in the territory of both countries for a cumulative period of up to ninety (90) days without recourse to work within a calendar year. The travelling public is hereby advised to take note of this new visa waiver agreement”
