The Government of Ghana has expressed concern over the United States’ decision to revise its visa reciprocity schedule, reducing the validity of B1/B2 visas for Ghanaians from five years multiple-entry to three months single-entry.
In a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs acknowledged the potential impact on Ghanaian travelers and assured them of the government’s solidarity.
The Ministry noted that the decision significantly alters longstanding reciprocal arrangements and pledged to engage the US government for an early and amicable resolution.
It further disclosed that from January to date, Ghana has issued over 40,000 visas to US citizens, with 70% being multiple-entry, long-term visas.

Reaffirming its commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, the Ministry confirmed that Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa recently led high-level discussions with US officials, which it described as yielding positive outcomes.
The government reiterated its readiness to sustain dialogue aimed at advancing mutual interests and enhancing people-to-people relations between the two countries.
