The Vice President has said government would give all the necessary support to bring the killers of Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama to Justice.

Dr Mahamadu Bawumia on Wednesday visited the family of the lynched soldier to extend his condolences and that of the State.

Captain Adams Mahama, the commander of a military detachment to enforce the ban on illegal mining at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region was attacked, stoned and burnt to death by some residents, on suspicion he was an armed robber while jogging with a gun on him.

Five residents of town suspected to be involved in the crime are currently being held by the Central Regional Police command as a search continues for others.

The Vice President condemned the mob action. He urged the family, especially the wife and children of the late captain to be strong in these most trying times. Dr Bawumia also assured the family that government would provide the necessary support towards the funeral of the slain soldier.
