The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has commenced an inspection and licence renewal exercise for food, beverage and entertainment enterprises across the Greater Accra Region.

In a press release issued by the Authority, the exercise officially began on Monday, April 20, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to enforce compliance with public health, safety and operational standards within the hospitality sector.

According to the GTA, the operation will cover a broad range of establishments, including traditional catering services such as chop bars, street food vendors, drinking bars, pubs, fast-food outlets, snack bars and outdoor catering operators.

The Authority stressed that the initiative is aimed at safeguarding public health while ensuring that all facilities meet the required standards for service delivery. It noted that maintaining compliance is critical to protecting patrons and upholding the integrity of Ghana’s tourism and hospitality industry.

Operators have been urged to fully cooperate with inspection teams deployed by the Authority. The GTA further assured that all authorised inspectors will carry valid identification cards to facilitate verification and prevent impersonation.

In addition, the Authority advised business owners to ensure that their operational licences and relevant documentation are up to date ahead of the exercise to avoid sanctions.

The statement, signed by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Bright Asempa Tsadidey, underscores the GTA’s commitment to regulating the sector and promoting safe and standardised services within the capital’s hospitality space.
