The Ministry of Health has announced that it has cleared outstanding salaries for 321 pharmacist house officers across the country, following months of agitation over delayed payments.

The Ministry confirmed the development in a statement released on Tuesday, assuring that similar efforts are underway to resolve payment issues facing rotation nurses, many of whom have also gone months without receiving allowances.

According to the Ministry, the payments were made in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and the Controller and Accountant General’s Department, after thorough verification of eligible beneficiaries.

“We have successfully processed and paid salaries for 321 pharmacist house officers. We appreciate their patience and professionalism during this period,” the statement noted.

The Ministry further stated that work is ongoing to clear arrears owed to rotation nurses and that it remains committed to ensuring all trainee healthcare workers are supported financially during their service periods.

It added that this move is part of wider efforts to resolve arrears across all categories of health workers and to support professionals delivering health services across the country.

The Ministry assured the unpaid nurses and interns that their concerns are being treated as a matter of urgency, with plans in place to establish a system that will prevent future delays.
