Vehicular congestion on the Mallam-Odorkor stretch of the Accra-Kasoa Highway was unbearable on Wednesday morning due to the visit of the First Lady of the United States of America to the Central Regional capital, Cape Coast.

There was a heavy security present on the road leading to the Region in the early hours of Wednesday, October 3, 2018.

Commuters to and from Accra and Kasoa had hectic time as they had to stay in traffic for longer hours.

Some of the commuters told PrimeNewsGhana in an interview that it will affect their reporting time to their various offices.

Meanwhile, the Central Regional Police Command has listed some major roads that would be blocked because of the visit.

Read below the statement from the Regional Police Command:

US First Lady, Melania Trump is in Ghana as part of his visit to some selected African countries.

She is to visit the Central Region on Wednesday.

Therefore, the Motor Transport Traffic Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service and the security were there to ensure safety and others.

Melania Trump visited the Greater Accra Regional Hospital [Ridge Hospital] in at the start of her solo trip that will see her visit four African countries.

The visit, alongside Ghana's First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo, to Accra's Ridge Hospital set the tone for the trip as a whole.

Earlier at the airport, she was welcomed by dancers and drummers but the public reaction has been low key.

The tour, which also takes in Kenya, Malawi and Egypt, will focus on promoting health and education.

In February, a row broke out after President Donald Trump allegedly used "shithole" to describe African nations.

Mrs Trump's week-long trip to the continent is seen as helping to heal some of the divisions.
