The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana Professor Ernest Aryeetey has denied rumours that he had a 3rd class grading for his Bachelor's degree.

Speaking to Bola Ray on Start FM's Starr Chat on Wednesday, Prof Aryeetey stated, "I wouldn't have become a Vice Chancellor if I had 3rd class".

On the extention of his tenure, Prof. Aryeetey disclosed that he had no intention of lobbying for an extension of his tenure which ends this year.

According to him, he had paid his dues as far as transforming the university was concerned and is ready for retirement.

He said, “I’m not ready for an extension of my tenure, I’m ready to go home,” adding that “I’m leaving a happy man… when it comes to legacy, I’ll always leave it to those observing to judge".
