The Minister of the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has decorated 19 newly promoted police officers in Accra after they were elevated from Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) to Commissioner.
Others were elevated from Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP).

Speaking at a short ceremony at the National Police Headquarters in Accra, the Minister congratulated the officers on their promotions.
He acknowledged the challenges they faced and the importance of their work.
He expressed President John Mahama’s appreciation to the officers for their dedication and service, emphasising the motivation that comes with the promotions for them to deliver their best.
The Minister tasked the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to look into promotions in the Service and ensure that delayed promotions and deserving officers were recognised and rewarded.

The IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno stated that the promotions would serve as a morale booster to the officers and the Service as a whole.
He noted that the presence of the Minister underscored the President’s appreciation, sacrifices and commitment to the welfare of officers who often worked under challenging conditions.
