The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has clarified that proceedings concerning the removal of Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta from INTERPOL’s Red Notice list are still underway, dismissing reports suggesting otherwise.
In a public notice issued on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, the OSP explained that the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF) informed Ghanaian authorities in October that Mr. Ofori-Atta had applied for his name to be expunged from the Red Notice.
Ghana’s formal response was subsequently filed on October 22, 2025.
According to the OSP, the CCF again wrote to Ghana on November 7, 2025, indicating that Mr. Ofori-Atta had submitted additional arguments in support of his application.
Ghana has been asked to respond to these new submissions by November 21, 2025.

The Special Prosecutor emphasised that the case remains active before the CCF, which is currently reviewing all submissions.
“The proceedings are still pending and the Commission… is still studying the case. During the pendency of the proceedings, the Applicant’s name, image and details are often redacted from public view until a final determination is made,” the statement clarified.
The OSP cautioned the public to disregard any publications claiming that the Red Notice has been lifted or suggesting an outcome in favour of the accused, describing such reports as “borne of mischief and misinformation.”
The office reaffirmed its commitment to providing accurate updates as the matter progresses.
