The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and the Ghana Police Service have launched simultaneous intelligence-led operations in parts of the Ashanti, Volta, and Ahafo Regions to arrest individuals involved in recent attacks on security personnel and anti-illegal mining task forces.

The coordinated swoops, which began at dawn on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, are taking place in Dadwene and Anwona in the Ashanti Region, Ehi in the Volta Region, and Hwidiem, Kenyase, Guaso, and Marhani in the Ahafo Region.

According to a statement signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director-General of Public Relations for the Ghana Armed Forces, the operations are aimed at apprehending suspects linked to assaults on members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS), some police officers, and officials of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), including journalists.

The GAF and Police warned that any person or group obstructing the lawful duties of security forces or aiding illegal mining operations will face the full force of the law.

The statement further assured the public that adequate measures have been implemented to safeguard lives and property, urging residents to remain calm and continue their daily activities without fear or panic.

The Security Services also commended civil society groups, the media, and the public for their strong condemnation of recent attacks on officers engaged in anti-galamsey operations, pledging continued collaboration to ensure national security and environmental protection.
