The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress [NDC] Koku Anyidoho has been elected a Vice-Chairman for the Council of African Political Parties (CAPP).
The election was held at the 3rd General Assembly meeting of the council in Khartoum, Sudan.
Mr Anyidoho will also serve as the Chairperson for the West African sub region.

He was elected as one of the five Vice-Chairpersons; with the other four also serving as Chairpersons of the East Africa, North Africa, Central Africa, and the South Africa Sub-Regions.Â
Nigeria’s Dr Hajia Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, who is from the governing All People’s Congress (APC), was also elected the new Chairperson of CAPP to serve a four-year term.
Dr Aliyu beat off competition from the incumbent Chairman, Davis Mwilla, who is the current General Secretary of the governing Patriotic Front (PF) party in Zambia.
Prior to his election, Mr Anyidoho was elected to serve on both the Executive Committee and Standing Committee of the Council.
CAPP which was founded in 2009 to form an umbrella body for the two major political parties in all democratic African countries, has its permanent Secretariat in Khartoum and is run by the General Secretary, Dr Al Nafie Al Nafie, a Sudanese national who retained his position unopposed.
Dr Nafie is one of the highest ranking members of the governing National Congress Party (NCP) of Sudan.
National Youth Organiser for the NDC,  Siidi Abubakar Musa, who is a member of the General Assembly of the CAPP, was part of the NDC’s delegation.
