President John Dramani Mahama is expected to inspect ongoing works on the Kasoa–Winneba road today, as part of efforts to monitor progress on major infrastructure projects.
The visit comes as work continues on the dualisation of the Winneba–Mankessim stretch of the Winneba–Cape Coast road, a key corridor linking Accra to the Central and Western regions.

According to the Ministry of Roads and Highways, the 24-kilometre project, which began in December 2025, is currently about 25 percent complete and is expected to be finished by November 2027.

So far, the contractor has completed site clearing as well as major culverts and drainage systems. Work is also ongoing on the subbase and base formation, along with the construction of two interchanges at Apam Junction and Otaw.

The project includes asphalt surfacing, pedestrian underpasses, streetlights, bus stops, and road furniture aimed at improving safety and traffic flow.
When completed, the dualised road is expected to significantly reduce travel time, ease congestion, and improve connectivity between Accra, Cape Coast, and Takoradi.
Officials say the project will also support economic growth by enhancing the movement of goods and people along the busy coastal highway.
