A major fire broke out at the Kasoa New Market on Sunday, prompting a swift response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

In a statement, the GNFS said personnel from the Kasoa and Weija fire stations were immediately dispatched to the scene. To support the containment efforts, all available fire tenders and water pumps from Accra, including units from Legon, Madina, Dansoman, and even the Jubilee House, have been mobilised.

Firefighters are currently battling the blaze to prevent it from spreading to other sections of the busy market. Operations are ongoing, with officers urging residents and traders to keep clear to allow emergency personnel to work safely.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and the full extent of the damage is yet to be determined. Authorities have stressed that investigations are ongoing and have called on the public to exercise caution while the situation is brought under control.
