Students of Agriculture Colleges in the country say they are not satisfied with the response given them by the sector Minister Owusu Afriyie Akoto over their unrestored allowances.

Over 2,000 students from various Agriculture Colleges in the country on Wednesday, October 11, demonstrated at the Ministry of Agriculture to demand the restoration of their allowances as done for trainee nurses.

The students of the Agriculture Colleges as part of their protest to demand the restoration of allowances have also boycott lectures.

In response to the agitations of the Agric students, the sector minister said their concerns have been presented to cabinet and government is working on the restoration of the allowances.

In a radio interview, President of the Agriculture students Samson Tubuk said they were already aware their concerns have been presented to cabinet a very long time ago, so that was not the response they expected from the minister.

Press Secretary at the Agriculture Ministry Issah Alhassan said the students should have patience for the ministry because they are even negotiating automatic employment for the various students at the Agriculture Colleges.

He revealed 1,200 graduates from the Agriculture Colleges have been employed and plans are underway to employ 4000 graduates from the same schools.
