NDC committee to members: stop media banter, submit your complains to us

The National Democratic Congress' (NDC) Election Review Committee has cautioned members of the party to halt giving reasons for the party's defeat in the 2016 election on the air waves.

The Election Review Committee, chaired by Prof Kwesi Botchwey, in a statement today March 24 2017 said;

" it had noted with some regret that a number of party functionaries and leading party members had lately taken to media houses to air their views on party matters, including matters that the committee was set up to investigate, namely the causes of the party’s electoral defeat."

The statement added that “committee’s doors are open and we urge all party members who have issues to raise or concerns to express to direct them to the committee to help the search for solutions to the challenges confronting the party”.

After the National Democratic Congress defeat in the December 2016 elections, there has been several accusations and counter accusations as to what caused the NDC party to arrive in opposition.
The National Organiser and 2016 election campaign coordinator of the NDC, Kofi Adams, has been accused of amassing cash and other valuables meant for campaigning at the grassroots.

Kofi Adams has denied the allegation saying, those involved in accusing the party and some leaders fews days after the election are only exhibiting their level of inexperience and immaturity.

Also NDC’s parliamentary candidate for Abuakwa North in the 2016 polls, Victor Smith, has also been accused of pocketing monies meant for campaign activities in the constituency ahead of the 2016 elections by Alhaji Dan Baba, a leading member of the NDC in that constituency.

With such numerous accusations and counter accusations, the Election Review Committee has urged party members to as matter of urgency;

"resist the temptation to engage in recriminations and finger pointing so as not to undermine the integrity of the committee’s final report and recommendations, or sour the atmosphere for the conduct of the committee’s work”.
