The National Identification Authority (NIA) has commenced Ghana Card registration for Ghanaian children between the ages of 6 and 14 at all premium centres nationwide.

In a statement issued on September 10, 2025, by the Head of Corporate Affairs, Williams Ampomah E. Darlas, the Authority said the exercise is in line with its legal mandate to register all citizens, both at home and abroad, in order to build a secure and verifiable National Identity Register (NIR).

Registration at premium centres attracts a fee of GH¢310, the approved charge for premium services. Parents or guardians are required to present one of the following for their children:

  • A valid Ghanaian passport of the child
  • The original copy of the child’s birth certificate
  • A Ghana Card holder parent or guardian to vouch for the child

The NIA further announced that from Monday, September 15, 2025, its online registration and booking system will be expanded to cover all 11 remaining premium centres nationwide, making it easier for applicants to schedule appointments.

The Authority assured parents that Ghana Cards for children who have already registered will be issued in due course. It also disclosed plans to extend the registration service to all NIA district offices in the coming weeks to improve nationwide access.
