Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has ordered the immediate suspension of the Principal of the College of Nursing in Nkanchina, Mr. Fredrick Anaba.

This follows alleged reports of irregularities in student admissions and the introduction of unapproved programmes.

The decision was announced in a press release issued by the Ministry on March 12, 2026.

According to the statement, the suspension follows concerns about the 2025/2026 admissions at the college, particularly claims that the institution admitted more students than its approved quota and introduced new academic programmes without authorization.

The Ministry explained that it had earlier issued a formal query to Mr. Anaba on February 19, 2026, requesting explanations regarding the admissions process. After reviewing his response, authorities concluded that a full administrative investigation was necessary to establish the facts.

As part of the interim measures, Mr. Anaba has been directed to hand over the administration and management of the college to the Acting Vice Principal to ensure that the school continues to operate smoothly while investigations proceed.

The Ministry of Health also reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing strict compliance with approved admission quotas and academic programmes across all health training institutions in the country.

It added that further updates will be provided once the investigation is completed.
