The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has rejected media reports suggesting the Auditor-General's Performance Audit Report uncovered corruption, financial misappropriation or revenue losses at the Authority.
In a statement issued on Monday, July 20, the NPA said the Auditor-General's report on its operations from 2023 to 2025 did not establish any financial or revenue loss.
According to the Authority, descriptions of the report as evidence of "rot", corruption or financial misappropriation are inaccurate and do not reflect the Auditor-General's actual findings.
The NPA also accused The NewsCenta newspaper of failing to include management's response to the audit findings in its publication.
"The Auditor-General's report does not establish any financial loss or revenue loss to the National Petroleum Authority," the statement said.
The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and good corporate governance, adding that it would continue to work with the Audit Service to implement recommendations aimed at improving regulatory oversight, operational efficiency and consumer protection in Ghana's downstream petroleum sector.
The NPA further urged the public to rely only on its official communications regarding the matter.
