Investigative journalist Manasseh Azuri Awuni says experience from his work reveals many senior public servants and politicians from both the NPP and NDC are determined to protect the interest of the Jospong group of companies to the detriment of the state.

He observes these individuals have resorted to all sort of tactics to frustrate his efforts to obtain public documents on contracts between the state and Jospong. Some of the contracts have led to the needless expenditure of millions of cedis by the state.

The journalist's latest expose on a contract to purchase waste bins awarded by the past NDC administration through sole sourcing to five subsidiaries of the Jospong Group has sparked public anger. Investigations indicate the contract amount was inflated to the tune of about GHC 130 million.

Speaking in an interview with Primenewsghana, Manasseh said he faced tons of challenges from the company and public sector workers who should otherwise be protecting the interest of the state.

He cited the Chief Director of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, C. K Dunduo who told him a letter he[Manasseh] had brought seeking information, had been forwarded to the Attorney General for advice.

Follow ups at the A-Gs office however revealed he[Dunduo] had lied and that the letter had not been sent. The letter was eventually sent and advice received from the A-Gs office, but the officials still refused to make available the documents.
