Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has destooled Kyeame Kofi Nti during the first sitting of the Asanteman Council following his return from a recent vacation, marking a significant development within the Asante traditional leadership.
According to a Facebook post by Manhyia Palace on Monday, April 20, the decision was reached after several allegations and concerns were raised against him during the meeting.

Among the issues cited were questions about his royal lineage, with concerns raised over his inability to properly invoke Otumfuo Ntam Kɛseɛ, a key responsibility of his role as Kyeame.

He was also accused of improperly handling and retaining multiple invocations of Otumfuo Ntam Kɛseɛ beyond what is traditionally permitted for holders of the position.
The Council further noted that he failed in his duty to appropriately report invocations of the Ntam Kɛseɛ, describing it as a serious breach of expectations for someone occupying such a revered stool.

Additionally, allegations linked to the wrongful enstoolment of Ayaase Dikro, raised by the Ayaasehene, were also considered in the proceedings.
Following deliberations, the Council resolved to remove him from office.
