Some parents of Jankufa Community in the Jaman North District of Brong Ahafo Region stormed the premises of Jankufa R/C Primary School to protest against the use of their wards by the Headmaster and the school cooks as "slaves" to fetch firewood and water for the school feeding.

According to the parents, numerous efforts have been made at the Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) meetings to halt such ‘cruel’ act but all the efforts have proven futile.

They, therefore, decided to descend heavily on the school on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, in protest against the school.

The parents explained that pupils in the school are subjected to various forms of punishments when they fail to come to school with firewood and at least, a bucket of water, to enable the cook prepare food for them.

Speaking in an interview with Prime News Ghana, the aggrieved parents accused the Jaman North District Chief Executive, Andane Ankomah, for failing to address their concerns.

They alleged that he has given the cook, who doubles as his wife, the green light to embark on such move.

"We have told the DCE to speak to his wife to stop using our wards as her 'slaves' but DCE has since given a deaf ear to our concern. So we will also not sit down for the DCE and his family to earn their money to the detriment of our children's education", they fumed.

The Assistant Headmaster of the school who gave his name as Pastor Daniel when Prime News Ghana contacted refused to comment on the issue because he claims, “any attempt to stop the DCE's wife may end me somewhere else”.

The Jaman North District Chief Executive, Andane Ankomah, was not available to comment on the issue.
