The Roman Catholic Bishop for the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese, Most Reverend Alfred Agyenta, has called on parents to serve as meaningful role models to their children.

Most Reverend Agyenta said children are gifts from God and there is the need for parents to devote the needed attention towards their development so that they would grow and become responsible adults.

He said a community that has no plans for its youth has no future and that it is appropriate to plan for the living and unborn ones so that they may, in turn, replace the old ones to continue the human race as ordained by God.

Most Reverend Agyenta, who was speaking at the first open day of the Maximilian Kolbe Educational Complex at Zebilla in the Bawku West District said, God knew the importance of children in society and so sent his only begotten son, Jesus Christ, to come to the world as a child and save man from sin.

He urged parents and guardians to give special attention to the upkeep of their children- spiritually, educationally, socially and financially.

The Bawku West District Chief Executive, Madam Victoria Ayamba, in a speech read on her behalf said, the government is focused on providing quality education, hence the investment being made at the pre-school level to ensure the qualitative development of the child.

She said quality pre-schooling provides the children with countless opportunities including self-confidence, learning social skills and leadership.

She said the district assembly is committed to the development of education and would continue to support the district education directorate to improve on teaching and learning.

Madam Ayamba called on stakeholders in education to collaborate in seeking solutions to challenges bedevilling the educational sector in the district.

The Director for the School, Paul Apamga, said the school was established to train and inculcate in the children the fear of God so as to become agents of change in the society.
