The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspected land guard, Saviour Kojo Ekpe, in Abokobi, Greater Accra Region, following intelligence linking him to intimidation and illegal firearms possession.

In a Facebook post, the police said the March 5, 2026, arrest came after reports that Ekpe had been terrorizing residents of Abokobi and surrounding communities.

Authorities also allege he had been renting firearms to criminals for unlawful activities.

During a search of his room, police recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition, including four pump-action guns, a Glock Austria pistol, 101 live AA and BB cartridges, 17 rounds of 9mm ammo, and a jackknife.

Ekpe reportedly admitted that the weapons belonged to him but could not provide any legal reason for possessing them.

He claimed that some of the firearms were used for hunting and personal protection. Investigators, however, suspect that the firearms may have been rented out to facilitate criminal activities in the area.

In a related development, another suspect, Emmanuel Abbey, who is believed to be an accomplice of Ekpe, was also arrested for allegedly threatening the life of a complainant.

Both Ekpe and Abbey are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations into the matter.

The Police Service has urged residents to provide information on illegal armed activities in their communities and reassured the public of its commitment to maintaining law and order.
