The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 12-year-old boy and a 34-year-old man following a viral video showing the minor driving a DAF XF 105 articulated truck with registration number GS 3097-20.
The police said the 34-year-old man is suspected to be the driver of the vehicle and is believed to have allowed the minor to operate the heavy-duty truck.
Both suspects are currently in the custody of the Central Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) in Accra, assisting with investigations into the incident.
In a statement, the Police Service cautioned parents, guardians and vehicle owners against allowing minors or unlicensed persons to drive, particularly heavy-duty vehicles.
It stressed that such acts pose serious risks to road users and are in breach of provisions under the Road Traffic Act.
The police also encouraged the public to support road safety efforts by reporting similar incidents and promoting responsible behaviour on the country’s roads.
