Police in the Upper West Region have arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in a deadly attack on Iddrisu Walaika, the Sissala West constituency Nasara Coordinator of the NPP.

Confirming the incident, the PRO for the regional police service Chief Inspector Gideon Boateng said the two are currently assisting with investigations.

The incident happened on Monday, April 18, 2022, between the hours of 11 pm and 12am at Hospital Junction in Gwollu, the capital of the Sissala West district.

Reports indicated that the perpetrators, numbering about 10, pounced on the victim around the Gwollu Hospital.

They accused him of burying a talisman to turn the outcome of the upcoming NPP constituency executive elections around to benefit his favourite candidates.

The victim was beaten to the pulp and dragged to the palace of the paramount chief of the Gwollu Traditional Area, Kuoro Buktie Liman who released him for treatment at the Gwolllu Hospital.

He was referred to the Upper West regional hospital, where he is currently responding to treatment.
