The Ghana Police Service has dismissed a flyer circulating on social media claiming that the use of AirPods, earphones and other audio devices while driving or riding is prohibited under Ghana’s road traffic laws.

The Police Service said the flyer is fake and was not issued or authorised by the Service.

In a statement, the Police said its Cybercrime Unit is working to trace the individuals behind the publication.

The Service, however, cautioned motorists and other road users against activities or devices that could distract them or affect their hearing, concentration, control of vehicles or awareness of surrounding traffic.

It urged motorists and motorcyclists to avoid distractions and exercise maximum care while using the roads.

The Police also advised all road users to familiarise themselves with and comply with the Road Traffic Regulations, 2026 (L.I. 2519), and other applicable road traffic laws.

It said adherence to the regulations is essential to reducing road crashes and protecting lives.

The Ghana Police Service further urged the public to rely on its official communication channels for accurate information on road traffic regulations and other public safety matters.

The Service said it remains committed to enforcing road traffic laws fairly and professionally while working with stakeholders to improve road safety.
